I am a freelance writer, working in the South West of England, with well over 1500 printed articles to my credit.
I write on a wide variety of subjects, from local history, music, news and food to gay issues (I edit the gay and lesbian section for a local weekly magazine and contribute news stories to several L&G websites and publications). I also have a regular food column, concentrating on locally-sourced, organic and GM-free produce in The Spark, a publication dedicated to ethical, fairtrade, eco-friendly and self-development isues.
A few biographical details: I was born in 1964, and live with my partner, three cats and one dog in the heart of the West Country. An early interest in music led me to work for several years in the record trade and perform in a moderately successful band for a while.
Since 1995 I have written for a variety of print magazines, most notably Venue, Folio, The Bath Magazine, The Spark and Essentially Catering. For three years I contributed to the American publication A Bear's Life, the first magazine of its kind to explore and celebrate the rapidly expanding Bear phenomenon, and have written for a number of other national and international gay men's publications.
I have written for several newspapers, including The Bath Chronicle, the Bristol Evening Post, the Western Daily Press and the Wiltshire Chronicle, and have contributed to many one-off publications, B2B magazines and journals and to a number of different web sites, including www.optimisimsflames.com, www.venue.co.uk, www.somethingandnothing.net, www.pridewest.co.uk, www.queerbristol.com and www.chalkhills.org
In 2010 I took over the ownership of The Spark, the UK's biggest, free ethical quarterly magazine. See www.thespark.co.uk
