Originally born in East London in 1981, Sonya Bumma moved to Essex aged two where she has spent the majority of her life. The daughter of immigrant parents from Mauritius, she found it hard to fit into the white middle-class area she grew up in and would often wander into her own fantasy world. Grateful for these experiences, she is able to draw upon them with her writing.
Sonya Bumma orginally trained to be a performer with ambitions in television presenting but discovered her passion for writing while studying at University. Since this time she has dabbled in writing screenplays (yet to be published) articles and reviews and more recently, short stories. Sonya Bumma still regards herself as a novice in the writing spectrum but hopes her dedication and hardwork will help her to develop into one of the UK's most promising writers.
