  CHRISTAL P. AUSTIN

Writer PhotoChristal P. Austin was born in St. James, Barbados February 5th, 1981 in a government project named Haynesville. Though her family was poor she's never let that stop her from realizing her true potential.

She has always had a passion for writing. When she was just eleven years old she won her school poetry contest with a poem entitled "The Snake".

She would continue to develop her writing skills and landed a job as a freelance journalist in 2000 with the primary local youth magazine "Hott". She would then garner the first and several subsequent cover stories for the magazine before it closed down in 2003.

Later that year Christal found a new job as a Corporate Communications Specialist with the Barbados Tourism Authority where she enjoys preparing speeches and other presentations towards the marketing and promotion of Barbados.

Nonetheless, Christal’s passion for the more intimate side of writing still burns deeply within and this she quenches in her spare time by writing poetry, short stories, inspirational speeches. She also prepares the newsletter 'Tuesday's Toast' for the Bridgetown Toastmasters Club as the clubs Vice President Public Relations.

She is also taking acting and piano lessons with the hopes of one day becoming a successful writer of novels and scripts for film. A full-fledged Aquarian she lives by the words of Napolean Hill who said:

"The Heights of Great Men reached and kept
Were not attained by sudden flight
But they when their companions slept
Were toiling upward through the night."
