Born in Auburndale, Florida, R. Anderson obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in December 2000 in Plant Pathology. She is currently prepared to graduate with her doctorate in Plant Pathology/Molecular Biology in a couple of months.
R. Anderson has contributed to research in several labs from virology to dentistry. Her current work uses a new technique to pin-point genes turned on in virulent bacteria during an active infection. Knowledge such as this could help other scientists when trying to develop a preventive protocol or cure for this disease.
