MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
  • Winner of best news feature story from Iowa Newspaper Foundation in 2001.
    "Someone to Watch Over Her" was a story of a young woman who gave birth to a
    son after she watched her husband die a few months earlier from brain
    cancer. Voted third place for same story from the Iowa Associated Press
    Managing Editors.
  • Lead writer that won first place by Iowa Associated Press in 2002 for team
    reporting project entitled "Quality of Life," special section about the
    future of the Quad-Cities pertaining to jobs, entertainment, housing and
    education.
  • One of only 12 award winners in country to be given National Award in
    featuring writing from The Center for Education Reform Excellence in
    Journalism Awards for the story, "Resurrecting a School."
  • Third place in 2003 National Attitude of Gratitude Thanksgiving Writing
    Contest. Honorable mention in 2002 for same contest.

MY NEWS:

My background has afforded me many tangible and "intangible" qualifications.
Qualities such as quickness, accuracy, insight, adaptability, integrity and
common sense are on the top of the list. My Midwestern farm upbringing also
instilled a strong work ethic.
Have belief that anyone has a story to tell as long as you know the right questions to ask.
