I've been writing for many years. I joined POETICES.com in April 2004 and my writing started getting some attention. I'm 40 years old and I love to play the guitar. I've written 8 songs of my own, and I've co-written 4 others. I've written approximately 25 poems. I love to write, and I can write about anything. I love a challenge. After a lot of hardship, I learned that writing poetry and music made me feel a sense of accomplishment and self worth. I could turn a bad experience into something I could deal with. I'm a native Montanan. I love to hunt, fish, hike, and down hill ski when my body allows it. I love the great outdoors. Especially here in the Big sky country. I hope you enjoy the writings I put here. I hope to here from you soon.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- I wrote my first song in 1992 after the death of my daughter Ashley. I'd found out that her step father was threatening to lock her in the closet with the Boogie Man. In normal life, people talk, or tease, about the Boogie Man alot. I had to find a way to deal with it.

The Boogie Man
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. He’s around the corner. No, he’s over there.
The Boogie Man he’ll chase you down. He’ll follow you around from town to town.
The Boogie Man, he never quits, scarin’ them kids’out of their wits.
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. You know he’s there.
He goes where you go, and you never know,
When that Boogie Man’s gonna show.
The widening eyes and the hearts racing, watch out kids he might be chasing.
Oh, no here he comes. He scares them kiddies old and young.
Go now run for your life, cuz the Boogie Man’s here and he’s got my wife.
Got my wife____?
Well I’m here to protect and I’m here to serve. I said, “Boy that Boogie Man’s got some nerve.
So, I slammed him hard and I knocked him down. Next thing I know we’re on the ground.
Oh no here we go me and the Boogie Man toe to toe.
I said, Oh no here we go me and the Boogie Man toe to toe.
Toe to toe_____.
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. He’s around the corner; no, he’s over there.
That Boogie Man he’ll chase you down. He’ll follow you around from town to town.
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. He’s around the corner no he’s over there.
Over where______?
Well I woke up in a hospital bed, thanking the good Lord I wasn’t dead.
And, from out of nowhere he suddenly appeard. Wearing a fur coat and growin’ a beard.
Growin’ a beard_?
I said, ”Hey Boogie Man, you scared me to death. I thought I took my very last breath."
And, he said to me in a real deep tone. Now maybe you’ll stay out of the Boogie Man zone.
Boogie Man zone______.
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. He’s around the corner; no, he’s over there.
That Boogie Man he’ll chase you down. He’ll follow you around from town to town.
The Boogie Man he never quits. Scarin’ them kids out of their wits
The Boogie Man he’s everywhere. He’s around the corner no he’s over there.
The Boogie Man will chase you down. He’ll follow you around from town to town.
The Boogie Man he’s every where. He’s around the corner no he’s over there.
Over where_____? - In 2004 I wrote and sold my first jingle/song for Morning Light Coffee Roasters.

It’ll pass the test.

And they’re roasted in the store right down town.

The War on Terrorism
The year was 2001, 9th Month, 11th day
When Al Quida terrorists hi-jacked four of our planes.
They did all they could striking fear in our hearts.
Taking out the twin towers was only the start.
Over four thousand people were killed. The U.S. was in shock.
How could this happen; while the politicians talk?
A war happy president decided it was time,
for the U.S. to get even; He’d made up his mind.
Declaring war on terrorism was the first step he would take.
And by attacking Afghanistan, a war he’d make.
The Al Quida were scattered all across the land.
Hiding in caves within the desert sand.
When President Bush said he was through,
He looked for a reason to attack the Iraqis too.
You’ve been hiding biological weapons, and you’ve failed to comply.
I’ll get the peoples support by telling them lies.
Our military invaded, pushing the resistance back.
No weapons were found, our reason to attack.
Our service men and women still keep the peace,
By patrolling the cities and walking the streets.
The war has been over, and our military’s still there.
While small bands of rebels attack without care.
Iraqis slowly kill our servicemen, a few more every day.
They’ll strap on a bomb and blow themselves away.
They’ll go to a place crowded with people.
Killing all they can, and to them it’s not evil.
Believing the rewards will be great, for what they have done.
But, God doesn’t reward us for hurting someone.
Yet, our servicemen and women still die everyday.
Our blood fills the streets; we haven’t gone away.
President Bush sits behind bodyguards.
Playing a political game and dealing the cards.
He hits us up for money to pay the rising cost,
Of a war that he started; for the things that were lost.
In a place where we’re blamed for everything gone wrong.
While he sits on his high horse, knowing we’ve been paying all along.
Has he avenged the souls lost on 911?
Who’ll give him a reason to pull out the big guns?
The terrorists he seeks are probably already here.
Plotting their next target while drinking a beer.
So, keep your guard up. You just never know.
Where the next suicide bomber is going to go.
Our country joined together; making a team,
And, we’ll fight for our freedom.
The American Dream - I just won my second award this morning at poetices.com April 26, 2004.

Saving Your Pet
Is it humane? Who are we to say?
Did I end his life, or save it today?
I saved your dog. He was almost killed by a car.
Now he’s in a cage without any bars.
You can see the fear welling up in his eyes.
Will his owner find him? Will he be surprised?
Maybe he’ll get adopted and find a new home.
Will they be responsible? Will they let him roam?
Do you think that he’s loved? Is he renowned?
Will I feel really bad if he has to go down?
I wonder sometimes if I’m doing right.
Was it meant to be? Would you take this guys life?
Maybe he’ll set there for months on end.
Waiting for a document the courts have to send.
Will the decision be made right then and there?
To take his life just wouldn’t be fair.
To them it’s just paper; it isn’t real.
All they say is, “What’s the big deal?”
Do what you must to open up space.
We need more room for all of the strays.
Keep picking up strays and bringing them in,
We’ll lock them up in cages of tin.
Then we can start the cycle all over again.
Who will survive? Who’s life will end?
How could it be? It isn’t fair.
Wouldn’t you notice if your pet wasn’t there?
People can be so heartless and cold,
And won’t check with us until they are told.
Your pet is in here! Where have you been?
They usually say, “I haven’t had time to come in!”
You better come up and redeem your pet,
So he doesn’t get sick and die at the vet.
You have seven days to go see the judge.
I’m just doing my job. Don’t hold a grudge.
When you get fined, hopefully you’ll see,
Maybe you should have listened to me.
If you care for your pet the way that you should,
You would’ve come got him as soon as you could.
This isn’t the time to be chasing your tail.
Do what you must. Keep your pet out of jail.
Learn everything that you need to do.
That way we don’t have to come talk to you.
Is this what I want? Am I doing right?
Am I really saving him, or ending his life?
I put a bunch in there that had to go down.
So we could have room for the strays here in town.
Twenty Nine cats all went down at one time,
With no homes to go to, not yours and not mine.
How can they do it? It’s beyond me.
Only kill to survive is what I believe.
