  PETER CLARK

I am 63 years old and have been writing off and on for many years. I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 5, 1943. I have always had a love of reading, and would often read rather than play or spend time with friends. I am the oldest in my family, and attended high school in Minneapolis and West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where I graduated from a private boarding school in 1962. I was accepted at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, and transferred back to my hometown of St. Paul at the end of my sophomore year. I attende Hamline University which, at that time, was on a trimester system, and failed the first term of my junior year. I enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years and was stationed, after bootcamp, in Atlanta, Georgia, and then for a year and a half in Heidelberg, Germany. I was released early so I could return to Hamline and start right where I had left off. I chose for my major what was then called Speech and Theatre, and graduated in the spring of 1970 with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. In Decmber of that year I married my ex-wife who was also attending Hamline. After we had both graduated, things were okay for many years until 2001 when we were divorced. I have a 22-year old son who has just graduated from junior college and will continue regular college this fall.
I have always had a love of history, and my hobby since I was about 12 is Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, although I have extended my history reading to include such people as Napoleon and Hitler. While at Hamline, I took a course in theatre history as an independent study and my love of Shakespeare led me to writing a major term paper on one aspect of Shakespearean acting in early American theatre (19th century) about the "first family" of the theatre--the Booths, with a look at Junius Bruts Booth Sr. and his three sons, Junius Jr., Edwin, and John Wilkes Booth and what they contributed to teh early theatre. Over the years I have worked with my former professor to update and complete the work so now it is in the reference section of the Hamline University library. I hope to get it published someday (when I can afford it), along with my poetry, which I wrote for many years but have since slowed down due to other obligations. I am semi-retired and work part time giving tours at a Minnesota historical site, a job I really love.
Not much else to say.except I was divorced in 2001 and have remained single so far.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
  • I have had my poetry published at different times in anthologies put out by the International Library of Poets.
  • I have, as mentioned above, completed the paper on the Booth family and their contributions to the American theatre. Said paper is in the Hamline university reference library and available for anyone to see.
