The year was 1984. In Ponoka, Alberta, Canada a small girl was born. Gillian Danielle Croft, her proud parents named her. She was the first born, in a line that would eventually equal three girls. Growing up was easy for these three sisters. Upper middle class household and everything a child could ask for. Gillian was raised in Ponoka, attending elementary, middle school, and high school there. Small town dynamics presented regular challenges for growing Gillian. In 2002 she graduated high school and moved into the real world. Undecided as to what she wanted to do, she decided to work. Psychiatric nursing always sounded like a great job, so she became a psych aide in the local mental heath institution. This job treats her well, but recently she decided instead, that writing was her passion and she was going to try to pursue a career in the journalism field and freelance writing. What caused such a sudden change? Truly, her boyfriend, in a way. This man managed to get himself into some deep trouble last year and ended up serving time in a federal penn. Gillian and this man of hers have been making mistakes and growing together forever, so this was just a minor blip in the road for the so-in-love couple. They started writing letters back and forth constantly. This re-opened Gillian's passion for the written art. She still works as a psychiatric aide and is planning to attend the University of Calgary, next year, for a B of A degree in journalsim.
