Hello! I am a forty-something single parent who is finally starting to follow the dream of writing. Living in the depressed Northern Michigan area provides plenty of fodder for articles and essays and being a single parent has its own inspiration!
My son, Nick, is the oldest at 20, followed by Holly who's 14 and the "baby," Skye; she's approaching her 13th birthday in August. Believe it or not, my son drives me the craziest, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the girls are warming up in the bull pen for their turns!
We have a menagerie living with us, 3 rescue dogs, 1 prima donna kitten, and a guinea pig who was seconds away from being used as bait for a coyote trap! They are also part of my troupe of writing muses.
I was born in Detroit just a few years before the riots which caused my mother to move us to Colorado. I have fond memories of living there, but my mother moved us back when I was 10 so we could be closer to her family. Since she worked for the city of Detroit, we resided there until I was able to move out on my own. She passed away in 1998 and I still miss her every day!
I am finally finishing college in December of 2008 and look forward to warping, I mean teaching young minds as a Secondary Education teacher. It's been a hard road, but should be well worth it as I am reaping great intrinsic rewards from my current job as a para-pro.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

- I have successfully raised 3 children by myself without the aid of child support! (Does that even exist?)
- I am rounding the final turn in my education, attending U of M Flint and working toward Teacher Certification for Secondary Education. U of M offered me a 2 year scholarship based soley on my academics, so I grabbed it and ran with it!
