Welcome! Thank you for visiting my site at WriteSight.com. I am pleased to offer my website content and article writing services for your consideration. My company, Focus Creative Services/ Focus WordCrafters, offers rich website content, persuasive copywriting, and interesting, provocative, and entertaining articles about a diverse variety of subjects. Even poetry, should you require it.
Having always loved words, I sensed their power early, and started writing my own words at the age of nine. The liquid way words roll off the tongue, the sometimes surprising way mere words invoke deep feelings of joy or sadness, the predictable way words make people laugh, or cry – the whole process of writing intrigued me, even as a child. The first poem I remember is an innocuous little ditty I wrote about flowers. My Dad was a Promotion Manager for a large record company in the early 60’s, Quality Records, and he regularly worked with all the radio personalities in big city Toronto. He had ‘pull’. Dad got my poem read 'on air' at the well-respected CFRB, and carried a ragged copy of it in his wallet for at least 10 years – so proud was he of his blossoming poet laureate daughter.
Well, it's been 46 years since that first 15 minutes of fame, and I am still writing. Still writing and thoroughly enjoying the process. In my early twenties one of my poems was accepted to be included in ‘An Anthology of Canadian Poetry’ being put together by famous Canadian poet, Alan Purdy. I turned the offer down. Yes, believe it or not. Why? I said no to have a poem published simply because I had submitted 30 poems. They only wanted one of them. To my young heart, overburdened by a truckload of dreams of having my leatherbound books populating the libraries of the rich and famous someday , this was a cruel rejection. Reflecting upon that generous potentially life-changing opportunity now, I see how everything may have been different had I felt gratitude, and accepted the chance to gain some credibility for my work at that early age. Had that one lonely poem been published in an important Canadian book of poetry, I may have approached my work in a more technically focused way. Built a writing career, maybe – but then again, maybe not.
Nevertheless, I did write non-stop from then on. Obsessively, almost. Got it all down on paper. I created for my hungry muse a rich and colorful tapestry of adventures told in first person. I lived my journey into the netherlands of human joy and tragedy. Great stuff for trashy novels, great discords on youth and disallusionment, but I simply wrote for myself. No manuscript submissions for years. Word therapy, clear and simple. On reflection, I understand now how the journey not only wrinkled my brow, but also was fuel for the fiery passion that produced my work. Not caring where the writing was going freed me from the ordinary shackles of commerce that tend to bind a more ambitious soul, and so often heartlessly steal the fervor of creativity.
I boast no degrees in literature. I am equally disappointed, and made free by this admission. With time has come less self-absorption. I enjoy recording other people’s experiences, not only my own. These days find me creating essays and articles on a diverse range of subjects. My interest now is to contribute to society in some way. By helping and motivating others, I help myself . By writing how-to’s about what I know, like business and marketing, self-improvement and goal setting, I may help someone who’s starting out in the business world. That’s important to me.
As the ‘mom’ of a wonderful assortment of furry and feathered creatures, I hope my articles about pets may help a desperate pet owner from feeling they’re all alone in their frustration over their seeming inability to housebreak their new puppy. My articles about jewelry collecting will hopefully inspire those who have a passion for jewels to explore new markets. My general articles and essays about travel, human relationships, history, arts and crafts, the environment, entomology, pest management, wildlife, and farm animals may hopefully make an impact on my reader. And, I still write poetry and prose, too, although no one has asked me to. I still feel the need to give weight to the mundane, make mountains out of molehills, celebrate ordinariness through colorful words and erudite phrases.
Bottom line, writing is my passion, always has been. I would be pleased to quote on your projects. I can make your ordinary subject matter dynamic and exciting. I can sell your product or service. I can offer up fresh perpectives for an old familiar theme. Please contact me through this site to discuss how my writing can enhance your business, website, magazine, newsletter, e-zine, or other project.
