  ERIN AKIN

As long as I can remeber I have wanted to become a writer, and now heres my chance to be discovered by someone who can help me with my dream. I don't know exactly what I would have to write on here, but I'll write things about myself. (It think that's what I'm suppose to do...lol) Well, I've already told you that I want to become a writer, so that's out of the picture. I'm only 14 years old, so I also don't have a lot of money to spend on my writing. My parents are behind me one hundred percent, that's one thing that I've always loved. I'm shy about the things that I do. In other words if you knew me I wouldn't be doing this right now. I'm very worried about what people will think of my work. That's one reason why I'm posting my writing here, because I don't know any of you and you don't know me. So I'm safe on that part. I'm not comfortable giving out my description to people, sorry. Below are some of my 'works in progress' as you can see. I hope you enjoy them. (I hope that these books don't have to be published already because mine arn't.)hope you have fun. Please email me on what you think about my work. I would really approetaite comments about everything that I have put on here. enron2008@hotmail.com is my email address. So please email me. I really want to hear what you have to say.

Rebecca's Fear

Rebecca Carls walked through the front door and went straight into her room. She plopped down on her bed and sat there for a minuete until she gathered up her courage to go sit at her desk and start her homework. Hours passed as she sat up in her room doing her homework and only took a break for dinner. When she was just about to go back upstairs, her mom called her back "Rebecca, where do yu think your going?" Rebecca rolled her eyes and answered "Up to my room to finish my homework." Rebecca was just about to turn around and head up the stairs when her dad said. "No you arn't. Your going to stay down here and have some quality time together." He looked at her through stern eyes, but Rebecca had to get this report done by tomorrow. "But dad I have a report due tomorrow and I have to get it done." Her dad turned toward her and said in his very stern voice that she was staying down here. "I am not staying down here I'm going upstairs to finish my homework!" Rebecca turned on her heals and went up the stairs. She was careful not to slam the door when she got to her room. For the rest of the night she put all of herself into her report and tried not to get destracted by her parents yelling. She heard it all the time. "Bill, why do you have to go and yell at her when she's trying to get her homework done!" Her mother would scream and her dad would retort with, " She needs to be with the family more! All that time up in her room isn't god for her!" It would go on like that for a while until they would get tired of yelling. Her dad would end out on the couch that night and she would have to be very carful not to wake him while getting ready for school the next day.

Rebecca woke up in the middle of the night when she heard a strange sound in the living room. She figured it was her dad, but got up to look just in case. When she reached the door she heard a grunt and a moan. She quietly walked down the steps saw her dad on the ground bleeding. She screamed and raced into her parents bedroom. Her mom was laying on their bed in a pool of blood. Rebecca screamed again and fainted. When she woke up she wasn't in her room, she was in the hospital. She looked around and saw two detectives and almost fainted again when she realized what she had just expeirenced was not a dream, it was real.
The two men that were standing outside of her door entered when they realized she was awake. "Hello Rebecca. I'm detective Colahan, and this is Detective Holls. We would like to ask you some questions?" Rebecca nodded to them that it was okay and they started asking the questions. It seemed like forever until Detective Colahan nodded his head and told her that that was all. He reassured her that everything was going to be okay and then bid his farewells and left. Detective Holls hadn't said a word while the questions had been asked. Rebecca was so stunned still that all this had happened, she wasn't able to think clearly. She layed back in her bed and stared up at the ceiling thinking the same question over and over in her head, 'what's going to happen to me?'
The next day Rebecca was greeted by a women by the name of Carla Smith. Miss Smith said that she was there to take Rebecca to a safe place where she would feel wanted and loved
Wait For Me
Poloug
Carla and Derek came bounding out to the restaurant. They couldn’t stop laughing, even though
nothing was funny. Bobby was the next one out of the restaurant. As Bobby watched his friends
stumble toward the car he thought about how this night had gotten started. They had won a
football game against Highsville High and the three of them decided to go out to eat and
celebrate. So they got into Bobby’s car and drove to their favorite place to eat, Carma’s. About
half-way through their meal Derek suggested that they go and try to get some beers to “liven up
the party.” Bobby said that he would just stay and keep the table for them, even though the real
truth was that Bobby didn’t want to turn out like his Uncle and swore never to drink when he
died of alcohol poisoning. Carla would do anything that Derek suggested so she went with him.
While Bobby waited for Carla and Derek to return he started humming a little tune that he had
made up. Bobby sang the words in his head while he hummed the song.
Wait for me
“While I wait for you”(Echo)
I’ll be coming along soon
Just wait for me
Wait for me
Bobby didn’t know why he had made up this song. But the choir in him took over when
he got really bored. While he silently went about humming this song Carla and Derek reappeared
at his side holding two bottles of beer.
“You need to learn to loosen up a little Bobby. You look so serious all the time.” Carla
said the words without a second thought, as she slid into the booth opposite of Bobby.
“Yeah man, loosen up. We’re here to have a bit of fun. So lets get on with the party!”
Derek popped open one of the beers and handed it to Carla. She took it without even blinking
and eye tilted the bottle to her mouth and drank some.
“ That sure does taste good.” She leaned back into the booth and took another sip. By this
time Derek had opened his beer and was joining Carla in her heaven. The rest of the night was a
blur of mindless blabber.
“Come on get into the car and put on your seatbelt.” Bobby helped both Derek and Carla
into his car and closed the door. He made sure to put them into the back, he would never make
that mistake again. Not after what had happened last time. Derek had sat up front and had nearly
turned them off the road because he had gotten mad over Bobby not letting him drive.
“You know Bobby. I’ve never had a friend like you. You’re one of a k..kind.” Bobby
could smell the alcohol on Carla’s breath as she spoke the words in his ear. She always starts
talking blabber about how important he was to her when she got drunk.
“I know that you think I’m important but you need to lean back against your seat.” Bobby
felt like he was responsible for anything that happened to them right now, since he was the one
driving. They finally made it back to his house. He couldn’t take them home because their
parents would freak if they knew their kids were getting drunk. When they were finally in the
house he laid them on the floor after he put down blankets. He picked up the phone that was on
the end table. “Hello, Mrs. Smith ......Derek is staying at my house tonight. Yeah because of the
game. So I’ll bring him home tomorrow. Okay, Bye.” He Hung up the phone with a sigh and
looked at Carla. Her parents never cared what she did or where she was. But, he couldn’t let her
go home because her dad would beat her if he knew she got drunk. He didn’t even bother calling.
Flopping into the couch he let out an exhausted sigh. The night was finally over.

Chapter One

Carla stretched out. She only remembered going to Carma’s to celebrate the football
teems victory. When she opened her eyes she saw Derek laying next to her and she knew what
had happened. Every time that she woke up next to Derek she had been drunk the following night
and Bobby had put them both to bed at his house. She sat up and saw Bobby laying on the couch
asleep. She new that it was rude to leave without saying bye and thank you but if she wasn’t
home in about an hour she’d get hit as soon as she walked into the house. She grabbed her shoes
and slipped them on. As quietly as she could she left the house and began walking. She didn’t
live far away from Bobby so it would only take about ten minuets; ten minuets that would seem
like the best time of her life until she had to face her father.
When she reached the front door she hesitated. She could just turn back now and not have
to face him. No she would have to face him sooner or later, and the sooner the better. He didn’t
hit as hard when he wasn’t building up on his anger. As she opened the door she heard him
snoring along with the TV in the background. She was hoping that maybe, just maybe with him
asleep she could slip upstairs and not have him hear her. Just as she reached the stairs she no
longer heard the loud snoring. She was just about to take a run for it when the back of her shirt
was grabbed and she was yanked down the stairs that she had just climbed.
“Don’t try and sneak away from me!” He kicked her and even though he didn’t have any
shoes on pain still soared through her body. She curled up into a ball and held her stomach. She
was used to this and she knew if she stood up and tried to face him the consequences would be
much worse.
“I wasn’t trying to sneak away from you, daddy. I was simply being quiet so I wouldn’t
wake you up. I know that you have work tomorrow.” She would do anything to get him to
believe her so she cowered in pain some more.
“All right. Go up to your room and I don’t want to see you out of there for the rest of the
day!” Her father trudged back to his chair and plopped back down. Before Carla shut her door
she heard the loud snoring that rung through the house.
Plopping down on her bed she turned onto her side and looked at her stomachs reflection
in the mirror. Black and blue bruises lined the middle of her stomach and along her right side.
She would have to find a way to keep this from Derek. Every time that her dad hit her, Derek
would go berserk and start saying things like going to the police. Carla knew that wouldn’t do
any good and she only had till school was out to leave the house. She could wait that long. She
got up and went to her dresser. Inside the top drawer was a picture of Derek and Bobby that she
liked to keep hidden from her dad. If he saw it he would accuse her of being a slut. She smiled to
herself at the thought of Derek and Bobby beating up on her dad, but quickly pushed the thought
aside and realized how hungry she was. Her dad had forbid her to come out of her room so she
couldn’t go down stairs to get food.
She reached for her cell phone and dialed the number for the person she could always rely
on, Bobby. The phone rang and rang on the other end. When she was just about to hang up
Bobby picked up the phone.
“Hello, Bobby.” Carla spoke into the phone, “ I need you to do me a favor.”
Bobby didn’t waste anytime in hesitating. “What do you need?”
“I need something to eat for lunch and dinner tonight. Could you bring them to me at my
window?” Carla still had her doubts even though she knew Bobby would do it for her. She didn’t
like asking for help and Bobby was really the only one she felt comftorble asking.
“I’ll be right over.” With that Bobby hung up and left Carla standing with the phone still
up to her ear. She slowly put the phone down and smiled. Bobby knew what she wanted and was
very dependable when it came to getting her stuff when she was condemned to her room. She sat
down by her window and waited for Bobby to show up with her food.

Chapter Two

Derek woke up to find Carla gone and Bobby laying on the couch. He sat up and
grabbed the remote to the TV that Bobby had in the living room. On the news it had a special on
this ‘tragic’ accident that happened on the main highway by two drunks in a car who crashed and
caused a six car pile-up. Derek sat and watched the report while thinking ‘That’ll never happen to
me. No way.’ Right as the report was going off Bobby sat up on the couch and yawned.
“Hey man. Finally decided to join me.” Derek and Bobby had this thing where the last
person awake always had to endure a smart remark about them. “Thanks for driving me here and
everything last night.”
“It’s okay. I know how weird your mom would get if she saw you drunk, so I called and
told her you were spending the night.” Bobby got off the couch and walked into the bathroom.
Derek stood up and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a pop out of the fridge. “I got to
get going, or my mom will throw a little fit over me not mowing the lawn.” He yelled into the
bathroom and walked out of the door. He walked down the street and was enjoying the breeze
when he got rammed from behind. It wasn’t hard or anything but it took him by surprise. He
turned around and hugged his little sister. Jannet was only ten, but was smart and athletic for her
age.
“I missed you Derek.” She hugged his middle even tighter when she said that.
“ I know. I missed you too. But you have to let go so that I can get home and mow the
yard.” He pulled her hands from around his waist and pulled her to his side. “How was
everything with me gone?” He knew how Jannet loved to fill him in on the littlest things that
happened at the house when he went anywhere for the night.
“Oh, nothing much. Mug went into the street again and mommy had to put him in his
kennel, but other then that, nothing’” Mug is Jannet’s dog. He’s not very big and so my parents
thought that it wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but they were wrong. Mug destroys the house every
chance he gets. Derek laughed and smiled when he pictured his mom running after Mug. He
always enjoyed watching her do that.
They continued to walk and talk until they reached the house and then Derek had to start
mowing the yard. He loved to sit on the mower and just think to himself about things that
worried him or just thoughts that popped into his head. His mom thought that it was a chore but
for him it was a privilege to mow the yard and think. He got on and started the motor when
spotted Bobby walking down the street. He just made a left turn towards, Carla’s house. Why
would Bobby be going to Carla’s house? Derek thought. He wasn’t sure of the reason but he was
sure that he wasn’t going to just sit there and not do anything about it. He jumped off the mower
and headed in the direction he saw Bobby go. He knew that he would have to stay for enough
behind so that Bobby didn’t spot him.
