  ELIZABETH CASANOVA

Writer PhotoI was born in the burbs outside of Chicago, IL in 1979. About six months later my parents moved to Atlanta Georgia. That's where Linda was born when I was about three years old. Then we moved to Guadalajara, Mexico for about a year until we finally settled in DeSoto, Texas.

Linda and I went to school from K-12 in DeSoto. Well, my third grade year we moved to Michigan, stayed for a year and then moved back to little "D" :)

It's Elementary: I can say that I was an obidient nerdy kid in elementary school. I liked science and reading classes. I was the kid that read the most books. I was also the fastest kid in school for a while. Friends started calling me Cheetah because I could outrun both boys and girls. I had a bunch of ribbons but who knows what happened to them. Elementary was fun but cruel. Linda and I were like the only Mexican kids in school so we learned words like wetback and DM but I'm not even going to tell you what that means. Our neighbor Lee (adopted grandmother) used to take us to K-Mart to shop for clothes. I miss K-Mart, dude. I have the blue light special blues. . .

Lizard in the middle: My bad ass days were in middle school, especially the sixth grade. I beat up my best friend Melissa Borden (okay we beat each other up), talked back to teachers and wrote really bad notes. Actually, I think I have those notes somewhere. When I find them I will post them. My English teacher made my best friend Ashlee Addleman and me write a book report because we were really bad in her class. Also, one time I wrote a horrible note to somebody, lost it, and the next day found it posted on the door of my homeroom class. So Matt Hall found out that I had a crush on him. Whatever happened to him? Leticia and Kelly were my bestest friends. Kelly and I would spend hours playing Super Mario Bros. She showed my how to beat the game. I'm writing a screenplay called "I Was a 6th Grade Rebel."

Junior High is really hell: How can I express my indifferance for Jr. High School. Kids were worse at East than the HS. Maury May and Lyndsey (you know who you are) used to torment everyone. Unfortunatly, Miss Lyndsey played volleyball and basketball with me. She was so rude until Shunqualia my BF offered to beat her up for me. Lyndsay would just call you out in class, the big scary blonde. Blondzilla. .

DeSoto High: I was suppose to take a Spanish class my Sophomore year but somehow I ended up in Drama. That changed my life. BD (Before Drama) I used to be this shy little kid that left her bad ass in 6th grade. But I had an awakening in HS. The drama kids were the rainbow group. There were cheerleaders, band nerds, choir kids, drill team sluts, preppy teens, jocks, pot heads, black, white, Mexican, Italian, Bible thumpers, Athiests. . . all mixed in this group. We had a Halloween lock in one time and Mr. Mac took us to see the spider lady but it wasn't really that scary. During the co-ed sleepover we went on the stage and told ghost stories, only they weren't really that scary, mostly funny and humiliating to some kids that got their pants pulled down. Boys are so dumb. That was the first time I saw "The Exorcist" and the first time I peed in my pants in front of my friends. I had to memorize Lord Byron and then I graduated. I don't remember graduation day.

College girl: Parties, study, clubs, study, Spring Break, study, Fiesta, test. . . It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The sad thing about college is that I made some wonderful friends and lost them. We all got together while writing at the University's newspaper "The Lake Front." We went to the tracks one time and almost died by train wreck. College is where I met Robert the tweetie of my life. Now we've been together for almost five years. Cinde, Eddie and I would spend hours in the editing room editing our student films. It was like past midnight and we were going crazy because we were so tired and had to finish. Plus the TV studio was haunted Judith said. Everything is Haunted in San Antonio, though. Like what's up with that goat hooved guy at the bar in the 1950s? That story freaks me out. I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts and lived in SA for a year. I don't remember my graduation day. . .

The Real World, Texas: For about six months I worked at a mortgage company as a payoff consultant. Great, I know nothing about math. But I made new friends and got to go to the office as a kitty cat for Halloween. But Linda moved out and I didn't make enough money for a two bedroom apartment and food. But somehow even without food I was getting fatter.

I got offered a job at a professional newspaper in southern Dallas. Daily newspapers are so demanding but it has it's perks. I have met some really interesting people including former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani, ice skater Michelle Kwan, and President George W. Bush. Now if I can just meet the cast from "That 70s Show" I can retire.

The future: I'm working I my first novel that does not have a title. It's pretty hard writing a novel, though. . . I hope to finish by the end of next year. I also plan on getting my masters degree in English or a degree in Political Science. Add to that finally finalizing my screenplay and submitting it to www.projectgreenlight.com. . . wish me luck, luck!

MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
  • Working at FOX News 6 in San Diego-I stayed in Tijuana so I had to wake up at three in the morning every day, cross the border and commute to the San Diego studio. It took me three hours to get there and three hours back. I was on my own but I worked hard and sacrificed my safety and sanity to learn a little about the industry.
  • Worked as a reporter at Focus Daily News in Dallas- I got to meet interesting people. I think the most interesting person I met was former NYC Mayor Rudolph Guiliani.
  • Being a parent- I have a 9 month old daughter and this means I can multi-task!

MY NEWS:

I am working as a temp at Southwest Airlines. This is the best job ever!
