’Write only if you cannot live without writing. Write only what you alone can write’. Writing for me thus is an exclusive power, if you talk of the ‘power game’; it gives my voice a shape, my thoughts a figure and my ideas a format. So, writing for me is a natural process. I have been an amateur writer of sort so far, writing for my school and college magazines; but now I guess its time to turn this passion to a serious business. And why not if it calls for ‘’write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience.’’ May be while writing I have a definite section of reader in mind but the issues that I love to touch upon are basics of daily life, the social ones.
Academically so far I have done quite well for myself. I have just completed (in 05) my graduation from Presidency College, kolkata. A major in sociology has off course triggered off my passion for writing on different social issues, gender divide; but I still owe my love for writing from some of my favorite writers Jhumpa Lahiri, Vikram Seth, Jane Austen.Travellinghas been my other interest, which has often brought me close to other cultures, life and living . No doubt it has richly influenced my writing as I prepare to touch wider horizon!
