  BARBARA BRAZILE   

Barbara Brazile was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended the Detroit Business Institute in Detroit, Michigan where she attained marketing, bookeeping and business administration skills. Her professional skills include public relations, marketing, creative writer, graphic designer, medical management, and recruiting/staffing personnel. She further pursued additional education by attending educational seminars and workshop training courses in business management and communications.

Early in Barbara’s career, she worked for Inner-City Business Improvement Forum (ICBIF) in Detroit, Michigan as a legal secretary and a staff writer for the ICBIF Newsletter. She continued her legal career at Barber & Wisok, P.C. A few years thereafter, she began her career at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, as a Section Secretary for two managers in the Climate Control Division. A few years later she acquired the position at Rockwell International as an Executive Secretary to the Director of the Western Wheel Division, supporting 12 sales engineers.

Barbara always had a creative side to her, as her dream has always been to become a Professional Creative Writer. In pursuit of her dreams, Barbara accepted a position with Gannett Newspapers in Birmingham, Michigan, where she gained the opportunity to interact with news media representatives, editors and staff writers. This exposure helped launch her ambition and determination to move forward towards owing her own business.

In 1981, Barbara pursued her ambition and took a giant leap into the world of entrepreneurship. She seized an opportunity presented to her of providing secretarial support services to various businesses in an office complex in Southfield, Michigan. Barbara formed her first business called Unitime Secretarial Services with the help of her three sisters. To further advance her management and entrepreneurship skills, Barbara co-owned a private-duty home care and management company in Southfield, Michigan, which provided home care services for closed-head and spinal cord injured individuals. This was inclusive with management of the patients home care plan as prescribed by their physician. Barbara was later the sole-proprietor of another private-duty home care business in the same city.

In hopes to still pursue her passion for creative writing, Barbara formed another sole proprietorship in 1997 called Feelings From the Heart, a quarterly magazine filled with intriguing real life articles about relationships, and spiritual messages of inspiration. Inclusive with Feelings From the Heart, Barbara began writing and designing her own personal greeting cards which sold in various retail outlets.

Barbara was offered a position at Ford Motor Minority Dealers Association (FMMDA) in Southfield, MI, as the Public Relations and Marketing Manager. At FMMDA, Barbara set up a marketing department whereby she recruited vendors for a membership in the Association, and subsequently marketed their products and services to the dealer body. She has since, redesigned FMMDAs quarterly newsletter, FMMDA FACTS, and is staff writer of the newsletter. She is responsible for the layout and design of FMMDAs annual conference books and other company brochures and information booklets. The annual book is distributed to Ford Motor company executives, vendors, suppliers and all FMMDA minority dealers throughout the USA. She also markets FMMDA Preferred Vendor services to minority dealers by way of the fmmda.org website, whereon she designs various pages, and update information on the site. When Barbara began her tenure at FMMDA, she also worked with the Ford Credit department to assist in monitoring Ford Credit’s performance of the Profit Improvement Program (PIP). She assumed the task of matching Howard University School of Business students with FMMDA dealers for summer intern programs.

Barbara continues her writing pursuits with freelance articles for local newspapers in Michigan, and other magazines, periodicals and newsletters in various other cities. In addition, Barbara has written various company brochures, articles for Wayne County Community College newsletter, appeared on MESC Job Show as guest speake,r representing Medical Staffing and Home Care Services in Troy Michigan. She also appeared on UNCF Lou Rawls Telethon.

Inspired with her spiritual understanding, Barbara has also written a series of children workbooks that were published by a non-profit organization, and is currently distributed throughout the USA. Barbara is also the Public Relations Director for the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research., a religious and scientific research organization in Southfield, Michigan.

Barbara is a single parent and currently resides in Southfield, Michigan. She has a strong relationship with her daughter, De’Londa and her ten year old grandson, Jordan.
