My name is Bryan W. Alaspa and I have been writing since I was in the third grade when I first sat down at my mother's electric typerwriter. I am 33 years old and live in Chicago. I have written three novels, all of them currently self-published, and only two of them available in paper versions at the moment. It is my hope to become a writer full-time, find a publisher for my third novel, and then do nothing but write my novels for the rest of my days.

The town of Dust, Illinois is like so many small towns across America. It is struggling to survive in a world where farming and small-town life is slowly dying. To those who have discovered it, it is also a refuge, hidden away from the world and a place of calm and peace. It’s a place to start over for many. All of that ends the morning the skeletons of children are found at a construction site where new homes are being built. What follows is a story featuring serial killers, accusations of child molestation, drunkenness, a riot, two house explosions, an assassination, shootings, a lynching, a broken marriage, hidden secrets, FBI agents, a good cop from the big city, forensic men, landmines, a police stand-off and a mass shooting. Dust is a compelling page-turner of a story, plunging right into its sordid tale or murder and mayhem from the first few pages and continuing at a breakneck pace throughout, to its literally explosive ending. Dust is the story of one day in one town and shows exactly how the smallest of towns can harbor the biggest of secrets.

The morning is shattered by screams for help. What the police find is the headless body of a young girl, violated, abandoned. So begins detective Louis Dillon’s descent into hell. Ten years later, an ambitious young reporter re-opens old wounds, and begins to dig into the case which has been left open deep within the police files. What he finds is a web of corruption and deceit that ascends to the highest levels. Before he can stop it, he and his family are pulled into the maelstrom. He finds that no one can escape the grasp that reaches from the grave. The grasp of The Vanished Child.
