  ALESSIO ZANELLI

Writer PhotoI was born in 1963 in Cremona, northern Italy, where I still live and work as a private financial advisor.

I have long adopted English as my artistic language, which I have been learning completely as an autodidact since the early 1980's, and to date over 400 poems of mine have appeared in about 120 literary magazines worldwide, mostly on paper and occasionally online, whereas I have published 3 full collections and a bilingual selection of poems.

Some of my work has also appeared in anthologies (sometimes to raise funds for charities) along with that by more famous poets such as Rita Dove, Carol Ann Duffy, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Mario Petrucci, Jo Shapcott and John Hartley Williams, or by eminent figures such as the Dalai Lama.

I was a featured author in the 2006 edition of Poet's Market (Writer's Digest Books, USA), with an article, a review (see sample article #3 on the left) and a poem.

At present I am the poetry editor of Private Photo Review, an international magazine of photography and short writing, and the Italian Stanza Representative for the Poetry Society of London.

Besides reading and writing poetry, I devote much of my spare time to various subjects, for example ancient history as regards humanities and modern physics and cosmology as regards sciences.

Moreover, I am an amateur but inveterate runner, with quite a heap of half-marathons, marathons and ultra-marathons run across my country and abroad.

In the past, as long as my job has allowed me to, I have also dealt with the visual arts, primarily painting, drawing and photography.
