  VEERA DAS

Writer Photo·A Skilled Copywriter, Poet, Freelance Journalist, Content Developer and Teacher. Today I am working as a Copywriter for India’s largest public sector company.
·Copywriting has taught me to be ‘writer-friendly’ to a large cross section of readers & age groups. Published work includes press ads, pamphlets, booklets and multimedia campaigns.
Right from the age of 11, when I did my schooling in London, my love for writing and drama grew alongside each other. As head of the drama department & as a drama consultant, I have edited, written & directed many scripts that were well enacted & received.
·Though my forte is children’s poetry- I also write short stories & articles with an academic bent-in psychology, sociology, health and beauty.
·As a freelance journalist leading journals and web sites have published my work.
·Till June 2005, I was a teacher in a renowned public school-‘The Lawrence School Lovedale, teaching sociology at high school level, Drama, English and History.
·My educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in English; an MA in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics and a B. Ed degree. I have also delved into comparative religion especially from a sociological perspective
·As an actress I have taken extensive part in plays with leading theatre groups.
·I believe that life has a magical quality with endless possibilities, if we are positive and give ourselves a chance.

MY NEWS:

News:-
My children’s poetry- that I would love to publish as a book, is gaining recognition on the web. I was honoured when they were recently described as being as good as Dr. Seuss’s books. Some comments…

”This is a sweet poem for children and all ages. Kind of Dr.Suessish in style, but defiantly your own. I smiled while reading this and could not help thinking how much children would love it, too! Great write…Dr. Seuss wrote very good children's books and What I was saying about your poem is that it is as good as those books and seemed as interesting" Anthony Lane Stahlhut

”I could see, and I mean this as a compliment, this poem illustrated as a children's book and a great way to introduce them to poetry. It's clever, with good rhyme, and the repetitions give it a bounce. Original and most enjoyable.” William Muth

“Veera, this is a delightful poem with fresh language and appropriate parallels. I can picture the Snail, Crow and other animals. The imagery is vivid and alive! Really enjoyed this one.” Gregory Christiano

”This is a very nice rhythmic and melodic children's poem. I like the hesitations; it breaks the fluidity, just like children like it. Very nice imagery as well” Roger Crique

”Like this because it's light-hearted and written very musically, which seems to be your signature!? Wonderful job! Great poem for kids and the kid in all of us, which I imagine, you have. It amused and held my interest. Well done!” Richard Reed Jr

”I like it a lot. It's humorous, serious, and warm-hearted all at once. A very happy ending. Good for you.” Richard Reed Junior

“I am listening to some relaxing piano music right now and your poem created a sense of me looking into the sky with a view of butterflies. Taking me back to when I was a kid. Innocence is spoken in these words of the butterfly” Jack Curson

"This brought back a quote that I once read...I forget who said it, but it seems to go hand and hand with this poem-"I am not young enough to know everything."
”Ah...this was a delightfully amusing work! Wonderful, Veera!” Debra Rose

“Very lighthearted and very humorous. Well constructed with good rhythm. It made me smile and made my day.” Richard Reed Jr
