Gregory “Haunt” Allenbach was born in the last part of 1979, the son of a single mother as well as a twin. Times were tough for the family, Haunt’s mother, Janet, worked several jobs at once to make ends meet. Her children quickly learned the value of hard work and individuality.
Haunt was creative at nature from the start. His first passion was in the visual arts. He had a distinct style beyond his years and had the mentality of many of the great artists. He nearly won every art show he entered and generated a new interest in the surreal art form.
In December 1997 a nearly fatal car accident changed everything. Gregory broke a large number of bones including the C1 vertebra. Many feared that he would never walk again nor retain his memory.
Haunt endured though and after seven months in a Halo brace he returned to school. During the healing process he began to write poetry and short stories. They were clear reflections of himself and his ideas of the world.
After high school the artist/writer lived the starving artist lifestyle and lived in several different places around the country. In October of 2003 he returned to his home town of Pueblo, Colorado to help his mother take care of his grandmother, Edna, who was dying of terminal lung cancer.
During this time he began to create the characters to his first novel project, “The Adventures of Little Haunt”. The story focused around a changeling child that decides to go on a quest to return the real child of his human parents, having many adventures and learning about himself and his past in the process.
The writing process helped ease the pain as he watched his grandmother slip away. “Little Haunt” was finished soon after her passing and now Haunt is looking for a way to get his work to the public.
The book has great potential, an elaborate fairy tale finely written like “Through the Looking Glass”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and “Harry Potter” books. His writing evokes interest from children to adults and with the right help the book is sure to be a mega-hit.

Life went on as normal in Beula Land, the markets were open, the farmers tended their crops and the women walked their children to the little school house on the hill. After all, it wasn’t an out of the ordinary event; many families had dealt with the switch themselves.
A lot of the neighbors in the area paid their respects and delivered food to the parents. Adia set heart broken near the bassinet that once held her true child. Gabe masked his loss by going back to work at the Mill. The last few days the two had hardly spoken to one another.
Aida sat staring into at the crib, her mind running a million miles an hour. Her mind dwelled on thoughts of where he child, Joey, could be. A flood of tears made their way down her tender cheek. Suddenly something caught her attention. A little green hand reached up from inside the basket. , then another. Slowly the changeling inside the basket lifted himself up and stood and looked Adia then with an infant charm smiled warmly at her.
For the first time in the past few days Adia smiled. She reached down and picked up the changeling. Once in her embrace he laughed and hugged her tightly around her neck. “So you are Little Haunt?” she whispered to him, “What a peculiar name for such a cute little bugger.” She held him in her arms for the rest of the day, rocking him, singing to him and talking to him.
Over the next few years Adia developed a deep and profound love for Little Haunt. He grew quickly and was very intelligent. She had taught him at home out of fear of what the other kids might do to him if he were to go to the little school house on the hill. They spent their days laughing and playing, he would help her with the house work dusting the higher objects since his little wings allowed him to fly up higher then Adia could reach. He was also busy doing kind things for his human parents. He would spin the finest silk from spider webs for Adia, who in turn would make beautiful clothing for him and her. He would carve animals out of the root of the Gallows tree for Gabe, filling his den with lions, birds and elk.
No matter how hard he tried to gain the acceptance of Gabe he always fell short. Gabe usually ignored him. Only in a few instances when Little Haunt had done something really well would Gabe even pat him on the head.
The changeling never took it at heart, he always had the understanding that both Adia and Gabe longed for their human child. Deep in his heart he had always longed that some how they would be able to see Joey again. Maybe even love them both as their children. For the most part though Little Haunt was a happy child. But things were about to change.
