  CINDY BUTLER

Writer PhotoMarch 2008 - I've returned to a lovely rural area near Bennington Vermont, as Assistant Innkeeper at Meadowood Farm Guest House, where I previously lived during most of 2006.

I grew up in Illinois (flat land/fields) but have always had a love for the mountains. I feel as if this is now home - and I am staying.

Winter/Spring 2007 found me at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. The Hudson Valley was incredibly beautiful, even in winter. I helped a Colonel and her family while her husband was deployed. Their family included two Saint Bernards - they took ME for walkies!

July 2007, I realized a long-time goal of traveling to the land of my ancestors, Scotland and Ireland, for two weeks. Having only seen photos of these two countries, I never truly envisioned the natural beauty until seeing for myself.

The people were delightful, so hospitable; the experience never to be forgotten.

I'm the proud mom to son Paul, a former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division of Ft. Bragg, NC. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan during 2004-2005, and returned home safely 2006.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
  • Irish America magazine, article published Fall 2005. Featured essay of beloved Irish grandmother and the ways she touched the lives of all who knew and loved her.
  • The Army Times newspaper, article published March 2006. A piece detailing my thoughts, feelings, and fears as mother to my soldier son, "Armor and Angels."
  • The Army Times newspaper, article published August 2006. A piece detailing country singer Craig Morgan, "From Trooper to Crooner."
  • Through my writing efforts, I continue to explore how people deal with the ups and downs of life, and the ways in which they find joy, then share it with others.

MY NEWS:

Am 'information gathering' about vintage aprons. My website explains my love for those treasured 'uniforms' worn by the very women who played such a large part in who we have become. I'm always interested in ANY apron stories that you might like to share. You may reach me through my Cottage Keepsakes website, as mail is sometimes difficult to retrieve via this site.

I'm also curious as to any celebrities who collect them? I've read that Julia Roberts has a huge 'stash;' if you know of any others I'd appreciate your letting me know... :-) Thanks!
